Name: Kael'Thas Sunstrider
Canon Point: after he's gone through the dark Portal with Lady Vashj in search of Illidan.
History: The wikkiest of links
Personality:
Kael'Thas first and foremost is an Elven Prince. He holds himself very regally, and politely, with a high standard of etiquette. Thus, he has mastered the art of playing politics. He is concise and to the point when he speaks, he commands the obedience of others of his rank with ease, and even in disagreements of opinion he manages to disagree without allowing things to escalate to an unpleasant argument. He is a master of keeping his emotions to himself, and outwardly keeping a cool head in the most devastating of circumstances.
In spite of all his political savvy, he does not handle himself quite as well casually. In what seems to be an inability to step out of his political state of mind and speak casually, he somehow manages to come of as stiff and awkward despite having a charming and elegant air to him. He will go about pleasantries, and dull idle chit-chat, and all the while make an effort to engage in the others stories and exploits- and it gives the distinct impression of one trying far too hard to be boringly normal.
That is not the only place that his station in life has stunted him. Likely he was very sheltered for most of his life, and brought up that as a prince his opinion was not wrong. Thus, despite having a cut-throat view on political matters, he remains very earnest, and very gullible, and very prone not to thinks things through as much as he should. As such, he was hardly ready to take on the mantle of leader of his people when it was thrust upon him.
Kael'Thas is also a man who cuts no corners when it comes to him homeland and it's people. And, no surprise, this gets him into quite a bit of trouble when added to his earnestness and gullibility. He will give everything 110% when he probably would have been far better off only giving it 80% and calling it quits to try something else. He also doesn't change his focus when he has his mind set to something, even if the method he's pursuing is growing more and more dangerous.
He also holds a bitter resentment for Arthas, not only did he steal the woman he had feelings for, but the he was the one that lead the attack that destroyed his city, killed his father, corrupted the Sunwell, and brought his people to the brink of extinction. Part of his goal is to amass enough power to bring the fight to Arthas for the sake of vengeance (which he does- and fails, surprise surprise).
Ultimately, Kael'Thas is a man who has been dealt a poor hand he was unprepared for, and while he tried to step up to the challenge to the best of his ability, he was not prepared. He would do anything for the sake of his people, regardless of the means, which leads to his downfall, and causes his people to suffer further because of his actions.
Skills | Powers:
raid fight abilities
Kael'Thas is a renown fire mage, and a member of the counsel of 6 of the Kirin Tor. As such he knows a variety of spells, including the creating of portals and teleporting groups of people.
Felo'Malorne- At some point he has the legendary blade of his great ancestors reforged, stronger than before to use against Arthas in the battle in Northrend. It's probably magical somehow or something, legendary blade and all, it was never quite elaborated on. Apparently it doesn't break against Frostmourne the second time. He's also got the skull of his father with him- apparently it's also a powerful magical artifact albeit a very gross one.
Hipster Mass Res- he was casting mass resurrection before it wascool a guild perk.
A distinct lack of need of the organs in his chest- okay in all seriousness, the guy is tough to kill. He has a large fel crytal lodged into his center torso at one point, and walks around and talks like it was nothing. And this is after he was thought to be presumably killed in Tempest keep (but that was just a setback you know).
First Person Sample:
[The feed comes on floating next to a tall individual with pointed ears. He was clad in extravagant red and gold robes, and while he looked well traveled and somewhat tired, he didn't so much as have a hair out of place. His eyes shown a brilliant blue and had a peculiar glow to them, and overall he had a calm appearance despite the situation.]
Bal'a ash, I and Kael'Thas Sunstrider, and it would seem as though I have been instructed to use this device to "contact others". I am going to assume that those who I am to contact may have some information for me. As I am sure you can imagine I have a number of questions I would like to see answered.
[He gave a small elegant bow to the screen.]
That is all I have to say, on the matter for now. shorel'aran.
Third Person Sample:
The prince strode through the market, head held high as he took in the surroundings. He moved with a calm grace, and were it not for the moments when he would pause briefly to study some unfamiliar building or shop, one may very well think he had visited the market before. His serene, yet inquisitive outer show betrayed his thoughts however. His conversation with the Ranger-general had not sat well with him. The idea of sapping crystals of demon souls to sate his the magic addiction that plagued his people was vile and preposterous. Surly their had to be some other way. However, the color of his eyes had made it very clear that is was not a lie- not that he did not trust the former farstrider. It was simply hard to believe.
However that was not what had him so on edge. It was the way Lor'Themar regarded him. From what he understood, Lor'Themar was from some time in his future, however he was very dodgy about his questions on the matter. From what he gathered he, for whatever reason, remained the regent lord for several years. The only reason he could think to explain that was either his death, or the portal between Azeroth and the Outlands had been closed once again. Neither of which he saw as worthy of hiding. There had to be something else to it.
he pause in his trek through the market, and sighed to himself. It was of no matter. He was sure it would be revealed to him in due time. He did trust Lor'Themar's judgement, he had done nothing but serve Quel'Thalas in all the time he knew him. He must have his reasons. Kael turned on his heal and began to head back. He had gotten his breath of fresh air, and cleared his head as much as he could. As conflicted as he was about it, he felt lethargic and drained, and he needed the need for magic sated if he was to move forward. He had to do the best he could for his people- even if there was only one member of his race here.
Marks: T for traitor on his right inner wrist
F for failure on his left inner wrist- because he sure does do that a lot.
A for addict in the center of his chest.
